Have you both contacted your web host and ensured they have updated mod_security on the server? If you haven’t done this step it may be causing the problems.

Will not work for me… I’ve tried making the change to .htaccess and I then get a 500 server error.

These are the two things I did.

The first was to ask my my web host provide to check whether a file on the host server (mod_security) was updated and was blocking access to my xmlrpc.php file. So to solve the problem the host went into that file and allowed access to xmlrpc.php.

The second thing was to insert some script in the htaccess file.

Things seemed to work after that. Be sure to shutdown Live Writer and restart it after you’ve done this.
